I was visiting the Maidens Hotel and the grandeur of the hotel itself is beautiful and so is this small restaurant. Looks very beautiful and grand. The beautiful restaurant when i entered only had 1 person , Mr.Deepak who was the server for us for the whole time and served us very well. Otherwise the service time is very slow . The calmness of this place is also very nice and is loved me . We went for the buffet and started with the minimal amount of starters and soups –

* Corriander Lemon soup – The soup was decent nothing to great , the amount of lemon was too much that’s what i think personally , which made it a bit too sour.

* Parmesan on Top of Balsamic Roasted Tomato – This was pretty nice with the nice amount of shaved parmesan on top of a Balsamic Reduced Tomato which was roasted pretty well. The Tomato was nice and juicy .

* Waldorf Salad – Served on a small bowl which looked very aesthetically pretty lay the Waldorf Salad with Cream all over the pomegranate , apple and walnut .

* Dahi Bhalla – The very basic Dahi Bhalla of both India , nothing too good . Matter of fact it lacked he Imly or Tamarind Chutney for the sweet punch .

* Watermelon with Feta Cheese – Cylinder of Watermelons topped of with the smallest blob of Feta cheese . Tasted nice and refreshing but the amount on top was very little .

* Cottage Cheese and Vegetables wrapped in Pita Bread – Very honestly saying , being a non vegetarian I loved this wrap . The Cottage Cheese and Vegetables with the nice creamy sauce tasted amazing .

* Chicken Lyoner in High Fiber Loaf – This was very nice and tasty , but it was also something pretty basic. The Lyoner is just a thicker Ham and tasted pretty nice . The Vegetable in was Lettuce and some more cream . Have this with the Thousand island sauce and they it’s truly amazing.

Going for main course there was Indian Cuisine, Some Chinese and some Continental. Mostly indian was prominent –

* Chicken Tikka – Sadly it was very dry , not very tasty either .
* Vegetable Lasagna – Tasted okay but the flavours felt more chinese than Italian .
* Pan Seared Fish in Tomato Sauce – This was also decent , the fish felt a little dry and the tomato sauce lacked flavours .
* Keema Curry – A classic Indian Dish which has loads of flavours , but here it lacked some salt and didn’t test the best .
The egg in the Keema curry though was very nice and tasty .
* Mushroom and Scallion Fried Rice – The rice was very nice and the mushrooms were in abundance with a nice flavour in them . Really this was a nice rice .

Dessert Section had fruits , a few pastries which also had the names mixed up and a few Indian Desserts .

* Gulab Jamun – The most common Indian Dessert ehich is very difficult to get bad , and they didn’t .
* Blueberry Mousse – A mousse with very nice whipped cream and topped off with Blueberry Sauce. The Whipped Cream was light and the Blueberry Sauce which was a little sour but combining the flavours is great .
* Mango Cheesecake – A light Mango Cheesecake is always loved and they even had a Cresent shaped tempered chocolate .
* Chocolate Brownie – Nice and chocolatey but was a little dry and hard so not the best . Went very well with the Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream

Then there was my drink . Yes , by the time I finished main course thats when the drink came . Not just that they didn’t even have all the mocktails available written on the menu . Just a Cranberry Lemonade which was just decent . The lemons were strong and made it a little too sour.

Bill was pretty high for the food and the time spent there . Not saying it’s bad and one should try their Ala Carte as that was more tempting .

Finedinerdebo’s Tip – Don’t tip , they aren’t willing to take tip for their service , even Mr.Deepak who gave us a great experience . The food can be better and so can the drinks offered her

Masala Library is one of the most highly successful fine dining Indian Restaurant in India. With branches in Mumbai and Delhi both doing great this place had been on my list for a long long time . And finally I visited the place in Mumbai . The restaurant is located in the corporate area of BKC or Bandra Kurla Complex . The restaurant is pretty big for a fine dining restaurant and has a very unique atmosphere and ambience. The brilliant service starts from the moment you get in with people greeting you with a smile and always helping you around . Here I tried the Chef’s Tasting Menu which was a full set meal with different courses coming in . So here is what all we tried –
* Amuse Bouche – Masala Pav done up in shape of small Balls with the bread shape given to it. Along side it was served with a mango jelly to give it a nice sweet contrast . The Masala Pav was very tasty and rustic in flavour . Lovely combination. Rating this 5/5 .

Masala Pav

* Masala Library Special Cocktail – Their super special cocktail is a Tequila Based Cocktail in a passion fruit juice base . The tequila was kept in aromatic herbs like cinnamon and star anise. Then the Tequila was light up on fire and flambed . Finally it was poured into the Passion Fruit Juice and the whole combination was just amazing . The sweet hint of passion fruit as well as the kick of tequila all while you smelled aromatic herbs in it. Just amazing. Rating this 5/5 , very innovative indeed.

* Fish Rassam Soup – Yes , you read it right . It is soup with lot of character and flavours . It has a small little Basa Dumpling which was very tasty and mildly spiced . It came with a Dosa Tuile very thin and crsipy . Until and unless the amazing Soup is poured into the bowl . The soup is a Tomato Rassam which has a hint of lemon grass. Once the Rassam is poured the whole dish is changed , full of flavour . Rating this 5/5 .

* Chicken Salami Salad – Two Slices of Chicken Salami with a Chakhna or Indian Fried Pulses used to be eaten with drinks. This was a very unique combination with a nice spice and kick to increase the flavour of the dish . Very unique and tasty . Rating this 5/5 .

Chicken Salami Salad

* Quattro Formaggi Murgh Malai Tikka – A joyful dish this is . Instead of Quattro Formaggi Pizza this is a Chicken Tikka , A Malai one to be specific with 4 more types cheeses to make it more cheesey and flavourful. The result is wonderful , filled with cheese and overloading with flavours. Rating this 5/5 .

Quattro Formaggi Murgh Malai Tikka

* Naga Spiced Pork Belly – Now this was also something very different . With pork belly people expect it to be extremely tender but here it was something a bit different. Of course it was soft and tender but there was also a crispy layer on top of it which was very smokey in flavour. Really liked the way the pork belly was done . Not just that those supremely fragrant Naga Spice marination on top of the pork was just wonderful . It had a good flavour of star anise and it just really showed . Lovely dish and rating this 5/5 .

Naga Spiced Pork Belly

* Pickled Bitter gourd Keema – A very very different dish . I wouldn’t ever expect Keema with Bitter Gourd but here they served it and it was wonderful. The Bitter gourd was Pickled so it wasn’t very bitter either . The Keema was ground to perfection and the mince was just melting in the mouth . It was very nice in flavour profile and I really enjoyed it . Rating this 5/5.

* Palate Cleanser – The palate cleanser here is one of my favourite ones of all time. Here they serve a Mishti Doi Popsicle with a topping of sweet cherry on top. It’s just wonderful and the flavour of Mishti Doi is very apparent and does its job of cleansing the palate . Rating this 5/5 .

Mishti Doi Popsicle

* Stuffed Kulcha – Here with the main course you are served Naans and Kulchas . The Naans are just the usual and very tasty but the Kulchas are Stuffed with few unique ingredients. The ones which we had were the Chicken and Cheddar and the Egg Bhurji Kulchas . The Chicken and Cheddar one was nice and gooey but the Egg Bhurji or Scrambled Eggs one was just fantastic. * Pan Seared Rawas – This is the seafood main of the set menu and it’s a true delight . It’s a big fillet of Rawas , seared to perfection served with Pui Saag crisps on top of the fish and an amazing Kashundi Curry on the side. The curry was filled with flavours like spice , sweet and sour and went extremely well with the Rawas and Parathas. I just loved the way this dish was created filled withany different flavours in one wholesome package. Rating this 5/5 .

* Butter Chicken – Now , I have heard about the Butter Chicken of Masala Library a lot and they truly make their name on this . It has San Marzano Sourced Tomatoes which have a very less acidic flavour which makes it the perfect sweet and sour ratio . It was just amazing with the really tasty tandoori chicken pieces in that amazing curry . It was extremely tasty . Rating this 5/5 .

Butter Chicken

* Chai Ice Cream – Yes, this is the Tea flavoured ice cream which they have here. It’s just amazing as it’s just a cold dollop of ice cream served in a cutting glass with ice cream which tastes like tea and it’s superb. It was topped off with a masala foam to make it look good and there were Channa Payesh and Almond Chikki on the side to enjoy with the delicious ice cream . Rating this 5/5 .

Chai Ice Cream

* Jalebi Caviar – This was the best version of Jalebi Caviar I have ever had . Very small and fine pieces of Jalebi in the Caviar form in a huge quantity with loads of sweet Rabri on the side. This dessert was not over sweet and was perfect . It was served in a conch shell and it looked really impressive . Then there was a saffron foam too on the side which was a nice addition. JW Marriott , Juhu , Mumbai is located right next to the Juhu beach of Mumbai. It’s a grand hotel with its status going high as it is heavily frequented by celebrities. Unluckily we couldn’t see any the day we visited but our server in the Lotus Cafe , their all day dining restaurant told us he has seen maximum of the stars here . We were here just to have a few snacks for the evening and have a great time . Things we had –

* Sev Puri – This was given to us courtesy of the restaurant . They were having their dinner buffet spread from there only they served it to us , freshly made . It had the base as Papdi topped off with fresh mint sauce and tamarind sauce . There were onion slices in it too . The main garnish was of moong dal fries and small churmur fries all over these. The whole combination went very well just like the street food flavours but presented in a luxurious way. Not just that it was definitely more healthy and safer . Rating this 5/5 .

Sev Puri

* Applewood Smoked Salmon – Smoked salmon is one of my favourite dishes of all time . And here they smoke the salmon with applewood for even more flavour . The salmon was of super quality and was very soft. The salmon’s flavours were great and it was so soft that it would melt in the mouth . It was served with capers , onions , lemon , charred bread and sour cream . The sour cream wasn’t too sour , infact it had perfect flavours. It went very well with the salmon . The bread which was served with it was also very nice , sweet and hot. Rating this 5/5 .

Applewood Smoked Salmon

* Pepperoni Picante Pizza – A classic Thin Crust Pizza done up in a Wood Fired Oven . It had a very nice wooden flavour to the crust of it and had absorbed all the smokey flavours in it . The Pizza was topped off with really high quality Pepperoni , Loads of Cheese melted to perfection and a lovely Marinara Sauce . The Marinara Sauce was classic and had a little cayenne pepper kick to it too . The pizza tasted amazing and had 8 big slices in it. It was overloaded with Pepperoni and gave the whole pizza a greater meaty character . Rating this 5/5 .
